I am Olivia Core, the founder of Core Yoga and Therapies. In 2009, I graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Southampton. I spent my first three years working as a junior physiotherapist at Chelsea and Westminster hospital in London. During these first few years, I realised that Oncology and Palliative Care was a great passion of mine. Over the next six years, I developed and refined my skills as a specialist Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care physiotherapist, working at The Royal Marsden Hospital, Guys and St. Thomas’, Kings College and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital. In 2019, I decided to specialise further as a Lymphoedema Therapist at the Royal Marsden Hospital, working with their experienced lymphoedema team.
In early 2020, before the pandemic, I moved from the city to Frome, to focus on living a quieter, more simple life in the countryside with my partner and dog. For the first time in my professional career, I left the NHS and started working as a Lymphoedema Practitioner for Dorothy House Hospice Care, a wonderful hospice near Bath.
I completed my 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training course in May 2021, under the Academy for Yoga Training in Bath, and have been running a weekly Hatha Yoga class in Frome since January 2022, as well as supporting the Bath Yoga Studio and Balance The Countryside Gym with occasional classes since receiving my qualification.
I am also trained to provide therapeutic Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD). I completed the Fluoroscopy Guided Manual Lymphatic Drainage (FG-MLD) training with the Lymphoedema Training Academy (LTA) in 2019, and now attend training updates every two years.
My real passion is to support people living with and beyond cancer. I have seen firsthand the physical, emotional, psychological side effects that a cancer diagnosis and its treatment can cause. I wish to share my specialist knowledge and skills to promote physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual wellbeing, while trying to find balance in an often busy and chaotic world.
